November Update!

Hello friends! It feels like just yesterday that I was writing last month's update, time really does fly when you are having fun! I have some great things to share with y'all that happened over the past month! But before I start, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout my time as a minister so far, I couldn't do it without y'all! Let's dive in!

We had our annual Fall Camp in early October! We take travel down to Mt. Lebanon in Cedar Hill for 24 hours and worship and fellowship with everyone in our Denton community. In the photo above, you can see some students waiting to share. It's always encouraging to hear students be vulnerable in front of their peers. We could really feel God speaking through them and the students were really moved by what they shared.

This is a less than flattering photo of myself and two of the other staff members (Ryan and Aaron). Our whole staff dressed up as Disney princesses! I was Ariel, Ryan (middle) was Goth Rapunzel, and Aaron (right) was Elsa. Our students thought it was so funny and really enjoyed it. I love that our staff can be silly while doing God's work. We have this axiom that we say a lot that says "Be a fool for God, not cool for God".

Our staff plus some significant others got to go to the State Fair together! I always enjoy getting to spend time with them outside of our normal work hours. They are such a great group of people to be around. After spending a little over three months with these people, I can confidently say I love all of them so much! I consider all of them family and love them dearly. They make my life so great!

Here's another picture of me at the State Fair. As you can see, I was very uncomfortable in this so-called "massage chair"! This was definitely false advertising (kidding).

Every year around Halloween time, one of our Friday Night Fellowships is designated as our Halloween night! Everyone dresses up in their costumes and we have Halloween parties afterwards! It's so much fun to see all of our students be creative in the costumes that they choose! I dressed up as a hockey fan, and Aaron (my pastoral supervisor) dressed up as me! The thing that I loved about it is that so many students got his costumes right away. It make me feel like a lot of the students are getting to know me, so that was super encouraging! Also, Aaron was spot on.

Lastly, we had our all church Leadership Conference at the end of the month. We have members of our Garland, Wylie, Denton, and Arlington churches as well as our student leaders from FOCUS get together on a Saturday and have an all-day conference over a specific topic. This year we talked about the importance of reading and using scripture in our ministry. It was super convicting for me because sometimes I put scripture on the back burner when I'm ministering to people. I'm definitely going to make it a priority from now on!

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support! I appreciate each and every one of you!

In Christ,

Ryan Reynolds

  1. Hey Ryan! Looks like all you did this month was dress up in weird costumes :)
But it's so neat to see those Denton students excited about sharing at your Fall Camp. It is always a special and eye-opening experience to hear from students about what God is doing in their lives, and it's a big encouragement when lots of them have good things to share!

Looking forward to seeing dressed up in something even weirder next month!
