And So It Begins!

If you would have asked me when I started college that upon graduation I would be working as a campus minister, I would have told you that you were crazy! But God works in super cool ways and here I am, an ordained campus minister.

We have 12 apprentices that will be serving on our FOCUS staff this school year across our 11 campuses. It's been so much fun getting to know them over the summer and I'm so excited to get to work closely with them! Above is a not so serious picture of us on our official first day!

For four days, our entire staff of almost 40 (!!!) spent time together at our staff retreat. It was so encouraging to hear stories from various staff members on how God called them to be campus ministers. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know some of the staff that I did not know well. Getting to be around such a positive, friendly group of people has made the transition on to FOCUS staff seamless.

Last week I moved to Denton and I'm so so excited to be there! God is doing some great things at UNT, TWU, and NCTC and I am pumped to be a part of it. This meant moving away from home for the first time in my life! I was a tad nervous for the move since it was the first time away from my family, but I am definitely glad to be following Gods' call up to Denton! Please keep me in your prayers as I adjust to life on my own and that it will be a smooth transition.

Above is my pastoral supervisor for the year, Aaron. Aaron is one of the most kind-hearted, easy-going, and fun people I know. Each week I'll be meeting with Aaron to go over how my ministry is going and talk about things I'm doing well in and things I can grow in. I've gotten to spend some time with him over the summer and it has been great! I'm excited to start getting consistent time with him to get mentorship over the next ten months.

I wanted to ask if you would specifically pray for all of the new college students that we will be reaching out to over the next few weeks. FOCUS gets to help out with UNT's move-in day and that will be when we can best reach the incoming freshman. Please pray that God will work through our students to reach these students that are making one of the biggest transitions in their lives thus far. Also be praying for all of the students we will be meeting during various events at Welcome Week later this month.

To those who are supporting me financially, I want to thank you again so so so much! I wanted to remind those of you that have not started giving, that now is the time to begin! Below I have attached a flyer that explains the best ways to get that started. Please let me know if you have any questions! Again, thank you so much, I could not have done this without you!

Keep me and the rest of our FOCUS staff in your prayers as we embark on our busiest month of the year! Thank you all!

In Christ,

Ryan Reynolds

  1. Is Aaron going to be mentoring you in balancing things on his nose? We are such a proper, professional team right?
Thanks for sharing this, Ryan. I am so encouraged by you and all the other apprentices. My prayers are with you during Old Testament class and First Flight Week at UNT!
    Love you!
