March Update!

Hey everyone! March is here! February flew by and a lot of encouraging things happened! I want to thank everyone who is supporting me this year, I couldn't do this without y'all! Let's see what happened this past month!

We started a new sermon series towards the end of February titled "Pillow Talk". During this sermon series we are focusing on various topics relating to sex and relationships. For our first week of this sermon series, we did a dating panel! We had students submit questions anonymously and had our panel answer them. I think that dating in a Godly manner is a super important topic that doesn't get talked about enough!

This is Garvin! He is one of the student leaders that I get to meet with every week. Garvin brings me a lot of joy and is such a blessing in my life. He recently graduated in December with a degree in Marketing, but is continuing in his role as a core facilitator (corefa) for the rest of the school year. Garvin is doing his alternative certification to become a teacher! He has worked with kids for several years and wants to make a career out of it! Be praying for Garvin as he takes his exams to become certified!

This is picture from our fellowship time at TWU! This has become one of my favorite times of the week! Our community at TWU as really grown this year as a whole so this time is so great to help friendships flourish. We either play silly games like the one above or just sit around and chat about life!

We had our event we call Pizza Theology that we do every semester! This semester it was titled "Exploring Exodus", and that is exactly what we did! Instead of having an outside speaker, we had some of our FOCUS staff talk and they did such a great job. I learned so much during this event! If you want to listen to it, it will be up on our website (anyocus.org) very soon!

Also in February, we had our annual Family Night for our Denton campuses. We have our weekly fellowship meeting on Saturday rather than Friday, and we invite everyones families to come! This event is so encouraging because we have a time for family members (mostly parents) share about how they've seen God working in our community! I loved getting to meet everyones families and seeing how excited they were!

Lastly, I wanted to share some bittersweet news! After praying about it and seeking advice from others, I have decided not to stay on FOCUS staff after my apprenticeship is over. I have loved this experience more than I can put into words. I have already grown so much this year and I'm so thankful to God for that. That being said, while I won't be staying on staff for the new school year, I will be staying on staff for the Summer, but in a more administrative role! So once June rolls around, I'll be helping coordinate our Summer fellowship meetings and coordinating orientations at our campuses among other things! I'm so excited to get to do that! Once the new school year gets here in August, I'll start working at a job that is yet to be determined!

Thank you all again for your love and support! I appreciate each and every one of you! If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to reach out to me at ryan.reynolds@anyfocus.org!

In Christ,
Ryan Reynolds

  1. Hey Ryan, thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear that the community at TWU is growing and having fun together. Also, I'm excited about your future plans. I know wherever you go after this apprenticeship, you'll do well and God will be with you. And the things you've learned this year will help you in any career!
